After being closed for a month, MoMu Antwerp re-opens its doors on 31 March 2017 to celebrate one of fashion's Belgian sweethearts, Martin Margiela. For the first time ever, an exhibition is dedicated to his work with Hermès starting from his arrival in 1997 until 2003, year he left the Parisian house.

In addition to this tribute, the exhibition delves into the interaction between the collections and his own label, Maison Martin Margiela. Before being appointed as artistic director of the women's ready-to-wear collections at Hermès, the designer was already known for being avant-gardist. His eye for deconstruction, recycling and recovery of materials was quite unprecedented during the era's world of fashion. In light of this, his choice as artistic director for Hermès made quite a few people frown.

As Martin Margiela's work keeps having an influence on many contemporary designers' collections, some people say that even though he retreated more than eight years ago - he actually was the true protagonist of the 2016/2017 autumn-winter Paris Fashion Week - MoMu's exhibition "Margiela - The Hermès Years" is more relevant than ever.

Exhibition:
Margiela, the Hermès years - MOMU from 31 March 2017 to 27 August 2017. From Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 18.00.
