Presenting "ARTISTS AT HOME / WORK"

12.05.2016 - Dries Tack

Lives and works in. The enigmatic cliché in every artist’s resume. It is this one, single sentence that inspired this book.

It resulted in 16 extensive and detailed photo features of the workspaces and homes of renowned Belgian artists, with interviews in which they share their views on their work and on living in general.

A thoroughly researched, skilfully photographed and beautifully published coffee table book, brought to you by the duo behind Belgique Excentrique/Eccentric Homes

They show these 16 Belgian contemporary artists, at work, as they cook, as they rummage around. Is their work created at the kitchen table? How is their sense of composition or beauty reflected in their home? Do they buy or trade art by their fellow artists? Or can they not bear to have other people’s art around them? Do they live in their studio? Or do they feel – the opposite – that they are working from home?

Richly illustrated with lively, inspiring and honest photos of the work and the home environment of these artists, whose personality and art color every image of the book. With personal, interesting texts in two languages, based on interviews with the intriguing individuals that these artists are.
