Gladstone Gallery

Art & culture

The Gladstone Gallery is today one of the leading galleries in the international art world. The project was launched in 1980 by Barbara Gladstone, when she opened a first small gallery in Manhattan. A few decades later she opened a second exhibition space in New York and was rapidly eager to open a third one, in order to take an international stand. Many European capitals were on the line, until Brussels was decided as a final choice. Since October 2008, the Belgian gallery, housed in a stately town house, offers an intimate atmosphere. Its distinctive character inspires artists such as Andro Wekua, to exhibit there. Gladstone has acted as a catalyst for the further international development of Brussels as a city for contemporary art.
